Citi Foundation
LISC is pleased to recognize the Citi Foundation as the largest private funder of Financial Opportunity Centers, a powerful service delivery strategy that helps low-income families reduce their debt, increase their incomes, expand their assets and stabilize their long-term financial outlook. The Financial Opportunity Center model provides individuals and families with services across three critical and interconnected areas: 1) employment placement/skill improvement; 2) financial coaching; and 3) accessing income supports.
Since 2009, the Citi Foundation has provided a total of $3 million to support Financial Opportunity Centers in 8 cities: Boston, Chicago, Covington, Ky, Houston, Newark, Philadelphia, Oakland/San Jose, and San Diego. With Citi's generous support, Financial Opportunity Centers in these sites have served more than 12,000. LISC is grateful for the Citi Foundation's continued commitment to our work.
About LISC Fundraising
Community development is a dramatic example of what can happen when the goals and resources of the public, private and nonprofit sectors align. Since 1980, LISC has been able to combine the vision and the capacity of community-based organizations with the resources and expertise of the private sector, and the indispensable underpinning of supportive public policies to transform and rebuild low-income neighborhoods into healthy, sustainable communities of choice across our nation. In the past 30 years, LISC has raised more than $9 billion for community development activities that build affordable homes, retail and community facilities and create new jobs from more than 3,100 donors, investors and lenders.
